Detroit, Michigan – Garan attorney Christina M. Mazzara has been named a 2026 Leader in the Law by Michigan Lawyers Weekly.
The Leaders in the Law honorees are setting the standard for other lawyers through their outstanding contributions to the practice of law and the justice system in Michigan. They have demonstrated tremendous leadership and offer a wealth of expertise in diverse areas of the law.
A shareholder at Garan, Christina focuses her practice on personal injury and property insurance defense, including No-Fault/PIP claims, automobile negligence, premises liability, and insurance coverage disputes. With 20 years of litigation experience, she has earned a strong reputation within the firm and across Michigan’s legal community.
What sets Christina apart as a Leader in the Law is a refusal to cut corners. She is thorough by nature, makes sure every angle of a matter is covered, and invests the time necessary to get the best result for her clients. For example, in July 2025, Christina helped secure summary judgment for an insurer in a property loss dispute before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Michigan, rejecting a novel “special duty” theory that could have exposed insurers across the state to significant liability. The result protected clear, unambiguous policy language from erosion by relationship-based claims, with implications that extend well beyond a single case.
Christina also shares her expertise with the broader community. Recently, at Garan’s Troy Breakfast Seminar, she presented “PIP Claims Under the Consumer Protection Act: The Law Just Changed on You.” Last year, Christina presented “Diminished Value Mini Tort Claims: Key Legal and Practical Considerations” at the IAM Seminar for Insurance Claims Professionals, as well as the Troy Breakfast Seminar. She is equally committed to mentoring associates and law clerks at Garan, drawing on two decades of practice to teach both the craft of litigation and the practical realities of the courtroom. Colleagues describe her as approachable and personable, qualities that make her an especially effective mentor for the next generation of attorneys.
